The Zaanse Schans Card — sold since 2024 under its official name Ticket Zaanse Schans — is the one ticket for the paid attractions in the village: the Zaans Museum with the Verkade Experience, Museum Zaanse Tijd, the Molenmuseum, the Heritage Chambres on the Kalverringdijk and two working windmills of your choice, plus a digital audio tour. It costs €29.50 for adults and €20 for children aged 4–17 (2026), is valid for one day, and is worth it as soon as you visit the Zaans Museum and two mills. The village itself remains free to enter.

Groups of 10 or more pay €26.55 per adult and €18.00 per child. The card is valid on the date you choose when booking; you can enter each attraction once.
Not included: the Windmill Hopper boat (€12.50), the cheese farm and clog workshop (free anyway), parking (€15), and the third and later windmills (€7.50 each at the door). The Wevershuis and Kuiperij, which used to be on the card, are temporarily closed.
Is the Zaanse Schans Card worth it?
Add up what you would actually visit:
- Zaans Museum + two mills: €32 separately → the card (€29.50) is cheaper and adds the clock museum (€15), the mill museum (€10) and the audio tour. Buy the card.
- Two mills + Molenmuseum, no Zaans Museum: the all-mills pass from De Zaansche Molen (€15) is the better deal. Skip the card.
- One windmill and the free workshops: buy a single mill ticket (€7.50) at the mill. Skip the card.
- Museumkaart or I amsterdam City Card holder: the Zaans Museum is already free for you (the Museumkaart also covers Museum Zaanse Tijd), so buy mill tickets separately. Skip the card.
- Family with children 4–17: €20 per child versus €9 + €7.50 + €7.50 + €7.50 = €31.50 separately. Buy the card.
Tip: the card does not include the boat. If you want the cruise as well, book it separately below — it leaves from the same jetty where you collect your wristband.
How to buy and where to collect
Buy online for the date of your visit; the e-ticket is exchanged for a wristband at the Zaans Museum visitor centre (Schansend 7), at the entrance of the village next to the car park and the bus stop. Buying in advance saves the queue at the desk in July–August. Payment on site is by card only. Tickets are also sold at the visitor centre on the day, subject to availability.
Combine it with the bus from Amsterdam
Since August 2026 there is a combi-ticket: a return trip on express bus 800 from Amsterdam Centraal plus the Zaanse Schans Card for €39.50 per adult (€30 age 12–17, €18 age 4–11), sold via localbus.nl. Compared with a separate bus return (about €10) and the card, the saving is small, but you have everything on one ticket. If you come by train, buy the card separately.
Is there an entrance fee for the Zaanse Schans?
No. The plan for a €17.50 entrance ticket was postponed by the municipality of Zaanstad in January 2026 to 2027 at the earliest, and the council installed in spring 2026 favours a voluntary contribution instead. The Zaanse Schans Card is a ticket for the museums and mills, not an entrance fee; the streets, the dike path and the craft workshops stay free.
Opening hours to plan around
Museums open 10:00–17:00 (Zaans Museum daily; Museum Zaanse Tijd 11:00–16:00 from October to March). Mills open roughly 09:00/09:30–16:30; De Bonte Hen only March–October. Everything is closed on 25 December and 1 January. Arrive by 10:00 to fit the Zaans Museum, two mills and the clock museum into one relaxed day.
